Classic social ad budgeting works per campaign: set a monthly amount, split it across a few ad sets, watch the results, adjust. That model breaks at a car dealership, because you don't have "a few ad sets". You have 40, 80 or 150 cars, each worth something different, each moving at its own speed, and the list changes every week.
So the real question is: how do you spread advertising fairly across a list that never stands still?
How dealers try to do it by hand
Dealers who run their own ads usually end up with one of three approaches.
- The same for every car. Divide the monthly amount by the number of cars. Simple, but a cheap runabout gets the same push as the car everyone is looking at.
- Tiers by importance. Sort the stock into a few groups — the cars you most want to move, the everyday stock, the rest — and give each group a share. That is better, but someone has to maintain the tiers every week.
- Adjusting by hand as cars age. Give cars that have stood for a while more push and take it away from cars that sell quickly. That is the most sensible approach and also the one that eats the most time, because it changes every day.
All three share the same problem: they turn a person into a spreadsheet operator, and they all require someone to decide on an ad budget and then keep splitting it.
How LaLista does it
With LaLista there is no ad budget to set. The ads are included in the monthly price, and the plan decides how much we advertise: Standard advertises twice as much as Lite, because more cars need more ads.
Within that, the spreading happens on its own:
- Every car in stock gets its own ad. No car is left out because nobody got round to it.
- All the ads share the same delivery. Your cars run together, in one set of ads, shown to people within driving distance of your lot.
- Meta's delivery does the weighting. Cars that people stop at and click on are shown more often; cars that get little interest are shown less. That is the "adjusting as you go" from the list above, done continuously instead of on Monday mornings.
- The list stays current. Every night we read your stock again. New arrivals join the rotation, price changes are picked up, and sold cars are removed overnight, so nothing is ever shown for a car that is gone.
What you see
In the dashboard you see, per car, how many people saw it and how many clicked through to it, updated every day. That shows at a glance which cars attract interest and which don't. If a car gets plenty of views but few clicks, the price or the photo may be worth a second look. If a car gets both, expect the phone to ring.
The part that stays with you
The only thing to decide is the plan: Lite for up to 50 cars, Standard for up to 200, and the Group plan for larger or multi-site dealers. There is no separate ad bill and no amount to spread by hand, and cancelling works month to month. What you do with the attention — answering, showing cars, closing — stays with your team.
